And more!On release in many cinemas: foreign language films with English subtitles. Latest releases include:

the Artist

The Artist (Apart from some music, the film is 99% silent, with caption cards for dialogue).
An exquisitely judged, gloriously funny and achingly tender film by the French director Michel Hazanavicius, a movie about the black and white silent age of Hollywood, which is itself in black and white, and silent – or almost silent (warning - contains mild spoilers...)
In an instance of sound in 'The Artist' George Valentin is having a nightmare after seeing his wife's sound test… he dreams that he hears noise, but his voice has gone. So in the film itself we get him mouthing words, but there is sound - his glass being set down on the table, his dog barking and the giggle of the dancers walking by his dressing room… and then he wakes up, and everything's back to normal. In another scene, George and Peppy are tap dancing. The scene ends and pans out to the director and cameramen, the director shouts 'Cut!' and the noise of a working film studio can be heard. George Valentin speaks - without a caption card. When asked if they can do the scene over, he says 'It would be my pleasure.'
There is a continuous orchestral score by Ludovic Bource. "The Artist" heads the Golden Globes with six nominations, among them best comedy or musical, and acting honors for its French stars, Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo. Trailer here
We Have a Pope (Italian, German, Latin, English, Spanish, Polish and French with English subtitles)
Tragi-comic depiction of events surrounding the election of a new Pope in Nanni Moretti's searching, satirical sideswipe at the Catholic Church in Italy.
